“The Viva! Festival was a triumph. Posing as a sophisticated but not elitist festival, joyful but not euphoric, serene but not radical-chic, dance but not too much, as a DJ but also as a live one, it really hit the right emotional chords”.
In the words of Damir Ivic for Rolling Stone magazine, Viva! 2022 greets its audience by packaging the best edition ever.
From Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 August, the VI edition of Viva! Festival attracted over 15,000 music fans, doubling the attendance compared to 2019 and marking a double sold out: season tickets and evening of 6 August.
Four days where the multi-instrumentalist, rapper and producer Alfa Mist alternated on the stage of the Masseria Grofoleo in Locorotondo; the brilliant producer, musician and DJ Floating Points; Gilles Peterson, historical British DJ, inventor of acid jazz in the 90s and careful discoverer of new global rhythmic sounds; the beloved sound researcher Hunee; award-winning English composer Jon; the London-based jazz and afrobeat collective Kokoroko who played their debut album live, released simultaneously with the performance at Viva !; the Moderat, the supergroup symbol of the European electronic scene which sold out on Saturday evening; British star SLOWTHAI who presented his latest album “Tyron”; the eclectic The Cinematic Orchestra, in a concert that will remain in the memory of those present for its class and elegance; Tirzah, the English singer-songwriter who moves between experimental electronics and pop art. And then again the Sardinian singer-songwriter and producer Bluem, the nu jazz producer DayKoda, the Manchester Space Afrika duo with their delicious set chill at dawn on the sea, the multifaceted Elkka, the couple of Italian DJs Tiger & Woods, the historic DJ and composer from Bari Nicola Conte, the new promise of Italian jazz and neo-soul LNDFK and the DJ Z.I.P.P.O who presented the project Jima Fey.
